Now, this probably won't interest or make much sense to non-poker players, so I don't blame you if you skip it.
I've played just enough poker to find a scene in Casino Royale to be a little more than a nitpick/head-scratcher:
The relevant background and facts:

It was a winner-take-all tournament, i.e. 10 men enter, only one winner leaves. "If you're not in first, you're last."
LeChiffre is a supposed math genius and an elite-level, grandmaster poker player because of his mathematical prowess.
He NEEDS to win the poker game, since he lost $100 million of the LRA's (Lord's Resistance Army) money through a botched investment

So, here's what happens:

Fast forward to the final hand. There are only 4 players left: Bond, LeChiffre, the Japanese man, and the heavy-set black dude.
The final board is A(h) - 8(s) - 6(s) - 4(s) - A(d)
Bond has 5-7 of spades (straight flush), the Japanese guy has a KQ of spades (highest flush) and the black guy has 8-8 (for a full house of 888-AA), and LeChiffre has the 2nd highest possible full house at AAA-66.
Bond checks, Japanese guy goes all-in for $6 million, Black guy goes all in for $5 million, and there's $35 million in the pot.
LeChiffre raises to $12 million, making it $47 million in the pot.
Bond goes all-in for $40.5 million, making it $87.5 million in the pot. LeChiffre can either FOLD, and still have $27.5 million left against Bond's $87.5 million; or he could CALL and WIN, but the game isn't quite over since Bond still has some chips left; OR, LeChiffre could CALL and LOSE, meaning he pretty much is a dead man.
Here is where I'm sort of....confused....: LeChiffre "only" has A-6, which means that he really could LOSE to anA-8, i.e. a bigger full house. Given LeChiffre's mathematical prowess, shouldn't he realize that this is a very credible "threat"? There are THREE players AHEAD of him who went all-in, and certainly at least ONE of them has him beat with an A-8 or better**.
The A-6 was just NOT strong enough for LeChiffre -- a poker master -- to risk his life on, especially since he'd still have $27.5 million left to go up against Bond's $87.5 million. That seems like a huge disadvantage, but if LeChiffre simply wins ONE all-in hand against Bond, then it would be roughly even (LeChiffre, $55 million, Bond, $60 million).
LeChiffre should have known that once Bond moved all-in, his A-6 would have been no good, and he should've lived to see another hand (and day).

Bottom line: Either LeChiffre should have folded, or they should have written it so that LeChiffre had A-8, giving him the best full house, and a hand beatable only by Bond's crazy straight flush. It's a plot hole to me because I couldn't understand how a supposed poker master could play so poorly. Actually, what they SHOULD have done was given LeChiffre an A-8, which is the absolute 2nd best hand a player could have during that particular hand, and LeChiffre could be 99.9999% sure he that he'll win, since only a perfect 5-7 spades by Bond would cause him to lose.
