[Paid][Website]Bitcoin Poker Chip website logo needed

I've been running my site CrytpoChips.net for a while with the same boring logo and recently picked up a new domain BitcoinPokerChips.com.
I've been thinking of making a new logo, but don't really have the skills and was hoping someone here might be able to help out.
Some info about the site that might help in the design. I sell bitcoin and other altcoin poker chips so something related to poker and crypto currency would be cool.
I'd like simple, but I'm open to anything.
Payment: I was hoping to find someone i can pay in some poker chips, but I do have about $50 I can spend if we can't work out a deal like that.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT:: Got a sweet logo made, thanks folks.

Custom Fate Points (follow up - they came out great - pic included)

Custom Fate Points (follow up - they came out great - pic included)
About two weeks ago, I'd posted in here asking for thoughts on making custom Fate Points for my THE SECRETS OF CATS game; I'd had little luck finding anyone already doing so using 3D Printer, so sought some other options. u/fromcimmeria suggested that I look into Custom Poker Chip websites, which made perfect sense (and should've been obvious to me, as I've been using cheapo plastic poker chips for Fate Points thus far.)
I already had the artwork in mind - one side would have the Fate logo, the other was a custom design that u/scottspov did for me, based on a design one of my players had sketched out.

Fate Points with quarter for reference
I ended up going to Chip Lab, one of the sites that produce custom poker chips. (I looked at several, didn't have any recommendations to go by, but they seemed to be the best deal and quality I could find - and as it was a couple days before Thanksgiving, they'd already started a Black Friday discount code promotion.)
So, I ordered a set of 25 clay composite poker chips with the custom artwork. The order confirmation email told me delivery was expected around 12/5. Now I didn't think I'd actually receive them that soon - I didn't pay for expedited shipping and there was a big holiday coming up that I knew would impact things.
The following week, on 12/3, I checked the website to see the status of the order, and it was still "processing" but still had the expected "around 12/5" date. Obviously, that wasn't going to happen, but I reached out via the on-site customer service chat (which I expected to be some form of AI bot), just to see if I could get a better expectation of when I'd get them.
If it was an AI bot (and I think it was initially), before long I believe I was talking to an actual person. They looked up my order, apologised profusely for the delay (to which I explained I totally understood, Thanksgiving holiday followed by Black Friday orders.)
They offered to fast track the production and upgrade it to two day shipping in way of making up for the delay. (Again, I wasn't expecting anything like that, I just wanted an idea of when I could actually expect them... but I didn't say no.)
So, they did that. This was ~5pm last Tuesday. I received an email update later that evening that the chips were printed (or whatever the right term is) and would be going out the next day via FedEx.
Sure enough, Wed I received a shipping notice from them, as well as a text message from FedEx (as I'm set up through them to receive notifications for any orders they're shipping to me) confirming expected delivery on Friday 12/6.
And about 9am on Friday, I had me the chips. They're amazing quality and feel so good in your hand. Nice and thick and sturdy. (Better than the cheapo thin plastic poker chips we've been using.)
I sent one to Scott, the artist, as a surprise gift and he got it today and dug it muchly. This past Saturday, even though we were playing Hunter, I did pass out chips to the players there who play in my game, so they can have one as a memento. Even after the other players get one each to keep, I'll still have almost 20 left, which is enough to use for the players starting Fate Points in a game... and since I'm getting an order of 30 standard Fate Points in the FATE OF CTHULHU kickstarter rewards that just got shipped out, I'll have others to use for the GM pool/compels and whatever.
So, again, many thanks to u/fromcimmeria for the idea, thanks to u/scottspov for the artwork.

Perfect cash small stakes poker set

Hey everyone. I have been working on this for a long time and i believe i have come up with the perfect poker set for up to 10 people for small stakes cash games. I just wanted to share it with everyone in case you ever need to get your own set to host games. This is an 800 chip set (there are no 800 chip cases but the 750 chip case on apache poker chips website holds 800 chips) and i am using majestic poker chips for my set. Everything is available on apachepokerchips.com
If you think i could improve on anything please comment below! I just want everyone to have the best possible set!
—————————————————————
Here is the chip breakdown:
100 five cent chips, 200 twenty-five cent chips, 100 fifty cent chips, 200 one dollar chips, 150 five dollar chips, 50 twenty-five dollar chips
—————————————————————
Below is what I hand out at the beginning of games. These are all for 100 big blinds and up to 10 people per game.
Blinds of .10/.25 games (25 dollar buy ins):
10 five cent chips, 18 twenty-five cent chips, 20 one dollar chips (Use 5 dollar chips for rebuys and have them exchange with other players for smaller denominations)
Blinds of .25/.50 games (50 dollar buy ins):
20 twenty-five cent chips, 20 one dollar chips, 5 five dollar chips (Use 5 dollar chips for rebuys and have them exchange with other players for smaller denominations)
Blinds of .5/1 games (100 dollar buy ins):
10 fifty cent chips, 20 one dollar chips, 15 five dollar chips (Use 25 dollar chips for rebuys and have them exchange with other players for smaller denominations)
**Please be aware that if you plan on playing a lot of .5/1 games this might not be the best set for you bc there is only enough money for each person at the table to have $225 total. So not much chances to have a lot of rebuys

* New keyboard button for "invert card selection" (default X). Selects the opposite cards from what you've already selected.

* Toad's hop ability energy cost reduced from 10 to 8.
* Tavern reveals no longer disappear after moving forward on the map
* Hexing no-card items now works correctly
* Doctor now costs 5 chips instead of 7.
* Starving with Regeneration no longer kills you if you have more than 17 life.
* Loot world daily runs (rare) will now spawn the same items for every player.
* Casinos no longer take life away during practice runs with world modifiers like "Hearts".
* Fixed Stone Skin, it is now reusable and gives items to the enemy correctly.
* When Confounded, Cursed items that were used will no longer damage you if you refresh them.

After 2 years, I've finally launched Deadly Desserts! You guys have been an awesome help and I'd love to give back to this community. I tested with over 150 people before launching. Here is a post detailing my process prototyping, testing, and iterating the game.
Deadly Desserts game
Hey everyone, several days ago I posted asking whether people would find value in my detailed process developing and testing Deadly Desserts and it seems like there’s some appetite. I’ve found this community incredibly valuable and would like to give back by hopefully helping some of you.
I’ll be focusing on game design as that’s this subreddit’s focus. Just one point on publishing as it relates to design: if you plan on launching on the website that rhymes with TrickFarter (trying to get past auto-mod), your game design should ideally be expandable so that you can offer meaningful campaign exclusives.

Background
Around 2 years ago, some friends introduced me to Hearts, a classic card game. It seemed pretty basic during my first playthroughs. After playing more and adding my own rules, I loved how strategic this simple game was. Surprisingly, Hearts had been around 100+ years, yet very few people I knew had played it. I wanted to play Hearts with more people, but they kept losing interest. The problems I ran into were people being turned off by playing cards and the new player experience being unwelcoming. I wanted to fix these problems so that I could play this game more. Here are some of the biggest problems and how I solved them:
  • Turned off by playing cards - solved with food-themed cards and game
  • Memorizing card point values - solved by printing points on cards and having table on player aides
  • Adding points on paper and not knowing how many someone else has - solved with food-themed health tokens
  • Limited to 3-4 players - solved:
    • 2 players - created new mechanic of playing 2 cards each, 1 at a time
    • 5 players - used 60-card decks to normalize hand size and game pacing
    • 6-10 players - added a 2nd deck and cancellation rules
  • Additional cards to double effects, scoring changes, and other changes related more to strategy and game pacing

Feedback loop
When I first started, I approached game development as a linear process. I realize now that it’s a continuous loop. The three steps I continuously cycled through are:
  • Testing - playing with people and measuring success of changes
  • Synthesizing - analyzing testing feedback and deciding changes for next iteration
  • Iterating - implementing changes based on feedback

Testing
I tested with 150+ people before launching Deadly Desserts. Although the entire game development process is a continuous loop, I took a fairly linear approach as to who I tested with. I’d loosely recommend you use the following playtester order. I didn’t strictly follow this recipe because sometimes the opportunity presented itself to test with certain people.
Myself
I’d say 50% of implemented feedback came from self-testing. I genuinely had a blast with it, too. Here are the main reasons I recommend starting with self-testing:
  • Fastest feedback cycle and iterations
  • Catch low-hanging fruit changes before using valuable testing time
  • The game needs to be fun for me before it’s fun for anyone else
As an example, I tested a 5-player game myself. I used a typical 52-card deck, removed 2 cards, and dealt 10 cards to each player. I felt annoyed when a player started with no cards of a certain suit (e.g. no hearts in starting hand). I also didn’t like the pacing, as I was used to 13-card hands. I did math and found that 12 card hands (60-card deck) decreased the probability of no cards of a certain suit from 16% to 8%. This was a problem I didn’t have to spend valuable playtests to figure it out.
Another example, I wanted to figure out how to play with 6+ people and found this bgg thread. It adds a 2nd deck and a new rule in which copies cancel one another out. I tested it and was simmering with how fun the cancellation mechanic was. It created a new strategy where I could lead a hand with an undesirable card, hoping the other person with said card would play theirs and cancel both of ours out. I tested out different hand sizes myself, so I could focus playtests on more impactful gameplay attributes.
The best part of self-testing is you’ll always be available during a pandemic!

Board game developers
I started testing at board game dev meetups after fixing what I could through self-testing. I recommend testing with board game devs 2nd because:
  • Board game devs exposed to many mechanics and will have great feedback
  • Useful and fun learning opportunity from people who have launched board games
  • Learn how to give and receive valuable feedback before testing with others
My first tests didn’t yield much feedback and I couldn’t figure out why. When testing another dev’s game, I noticed he received much more feedback than I do. Whenever I or the testers (other game devs) gave feedback, the game dev simply wrote it down. I wondered why he didn’t respond to any of our comments and finally realized that feedback isn’t meant to yield rebuttals. During my own playtests, I kept on responding to feedback, trying to explain things. Other people saw this and likely were dissuaded from contributing. I learned that feedback is feedback - don’t refute or comment on it, just write it down and ask for clarification if necessary.
I remember during a particular playtest, me and other testers glazed a game dev with a wide variety of feedback. He felt overwhelmed and wasn’t sure how to proceed. A tester asked what he changed from the previous iteration. The game dev said that in his previous iteration, all players met their win conditions at similar time-frames, despite all of the decisions made to get there. Essentially, he didn’t want the game to be as luck-based. Providing valuable feedback was much easier when focusing on a particular goal. Here’s what I learned:
  • The best way to learn how to receive valuable feedback is to learn how to give valuable feedback
  • Define goals for playtests, primarily how well the new iteration’s changes produce the intended outcome
  • Testers won’t know what I’m testing for unless I tell them
I tried to test others’ games before asking them to test mine. I also noticed that people tried much harder to provide valuable feedback to me after I had to them. It’s in your best interest, and is more life-fulfilling, to help others before asking for help.
The meetup I used to go to is currently frozen, but hopefully there are virtual meetups out there. You can also try a gaming simulator. This subreddit is also a great place to find other board game devs!

Friends and family
Here’s why I recommend testing with friends and family 3rd:
  • Start testing game’s entertainment value with a broader audience (game devs are more hardcore)
  • Loved ones are much more collaborative than strangers
  • Fine tune game before testing with strangers
I conducted my first blind test with family, where I asked them to read the instructions themselves and play while I quietly observed. I noticed their feedback was more focused on making the game fun, whereas game devs' focused on competitiveness.
Once when visiting my parents, my mom wanted to play Deadly Desserts and I told her that I hadn’t figured out 2-player rules. Since she’s the best mom ever, she spent several hours with me experimenting with different ideas, until we came up with the 2-player variant that’s in the current game. Thanks mom!

Strangers
This was the most important test group because these are the people I would eventually want to buy my game. They didn’t know me and didn’t have sympathy from being a fellow game dev. They had no reason to care about my feelings and consequently gave critically honest feedback.
One of my biggest challenges throughout this project was finding playtesters. I didn’t want to pay and didn’t have a big following. Here were my main sources for testing with strangers:
  • Sat outside high-traffic areas (e.g. Peet’s Coffee) and offered free cupcakes or cookies to playtest
  • Board game cafes
  • Other board game devs’ game nights
Other game devs said they tested with dozens a day at board game conventions. I didn’t try it because I thought Deadly Desserts would be too light for a convention, but in hindsight it’s worth a try before writing off. Either way, your game is hopefully light enough to do what I did outside of coffee shops, or heavy enough to test at board game conventions. Both of which are sadly not too feasible during a pandemic.

Synthesizing
My general approach to synthesizing feedback was:
  1. Filter feedback for which problems need to be solved
  2. Solve problems
  3. Self-test before iterating game
I found it imperative define my game’s value proposition. One of my biggest challenges was figuring out how to sift through feedback. I pushed the game in many different directions by addressing every comment. Without a value proposition, I had no structure to decide which changes to implement and how to measure success of said changes.
Board games differ from other businesses in that they provide entertainment, rather than solve problems. Consequently, it’s not as obvious as to how to measure progress for a board game.
  • Let’s say we’re trying to solve the problem of water bottles not keeping water cold
  • Our value proposition, the reason why people would buy our bottle, is fluid staying cold
  • This can easily be measured by comparing water temperature in our bottle vs Bottle X after a certain time period
  • Let’s say a customer thinks the bottle isn’t stylish and we find a stylish material that reduces insulation by 25%
  • Since we have a clearly defined value proposition, it’s obvious that this feedback would diminish it’s intended value
One of the most common pieces of feedback I received was people wanting more complexity. I spent a lot of time going back and forth between complicating and simplifying the game. After enough noodling around, I remembered that I originally sought out to be able to play my version of Hearts with more people. After defining my value proposition, I stopped bouncing around and was able to push the game in a certain direction.

Iterating
Team
In the past, I had launched a product that I had paid a contractor to develop. I had many issues with deadlines and quality because the contractor wasn’t tied to the product how I was. It also wasn’t as fun because the relationship felt too professional. For Deadly Desserts, I wanted teammates instead of contractors. I recruited a designer and animator as equity partners. Working with teammates is boat loads more fun than working with a contractor.
Implementing
I spent a ton of time theorizing how much fun certain changes may or may not be. I made progress faster by iterating and testing quickly, rather than spending too much time planning.
Prototyping
I tried not to spend capital unless I needed to, both financially and temporally. My first prototype was index cards and poker chips. Once the card designs were more finalized, I used Print & Play to create more legit-looking prototypes. Get creative and spend only on what you need. In my case, card design was a huge value proposition, so I wanted to test it. Over time, I also improved at not asking my teammates to create something until I had it finalized in my head and self-tested.

End
Thanks for reading and hope this helps someone. At the end of the day, don’t forget that you’re creating something that brings fun to peoples’ lives. Have fun yourself and enjoy the process. Here’s Deadly Desserts if you’re interested in checking it out. Feel free to ask me anything. I’m also happy to test a few games for people.
tl;dr: define a value proposition, test, synthesize, iterate, nice

Playing Card Manufacturer: Hanson Chien Production Company (HCPC)

Playing Card Manufacturer: Hanson Chien Production Company (HCPC)
This article continues a series where we take a look at some lesser known playing card manufacturers. Big names like USPCC and Cartamundi tend to get the most press, simply because they produce the most decks of playing cards. But in the last number of years, consistently high quality playing cards have been coming out of factories in Taiwan, produced especially by companies like Expert Playing Card Company (EPCC) and Legends Playing Card Company (LPCC). In this article we'll introduce you to a lesser-known playing card manufacturer that is also based in Taiwan, and produces playing cards of a similar quality to these more well known names. That playing card manufacturer is Hanson Chien Production Company (HCPC).
HANSON CHIEN PRODUCTION COMPANY
The man behind the Hanson Chien Production Company is Hanson Chien, and his name might be recognized by those familiar with magic and cardistry. Hanson burst onto the custom playing card scene with his immensely successful and highly amusing Chicken Nuggets Playing Cards. These were printed in Taiwan, and also saw the debut of his own publishing company, Hanson Chien Production Company (HCPC). Taiwan is also where industry leaders like Expert Playing Card Company operate and get their decks printed, and the factories there have an excellent reputation for producing quality playing cards. Proving that he isn't just a one-trick pony, Hanson Chien's company has since produced a growing number of other fantastic and beautiful designs for other creators, including some of the ones that I'll cover in this article.
Here's our friend Hanson, dressed up for the occasion, in order to show off the entertaining deck that first got him on the international radar in a big way, the Chicken Nuggets deck.

CHICKEN NUGGETS PLAYING CARDS
Hanson Chien's aim was to breathe new life into the original Jerry's Nugget deck by recreating it in painstaking detail, but with a twist: he turned it into a humorous parody by poking fun at fast food culture and junk food consumption. And so the hilarious Chicken Nuggets Playing Cards were born in 2016, and they have been a huge success.
Many idiosyncrasies of the original Jerry's Nugget decks were painstakingly reproduced. But it's the court cards that are easily my favourite part of this deck. When you look more closely at the artwork, you'll notice that these poke fun at the modern junk food habit, with the royal characters all engaged in devouring fast food like hamburgers, donuts, french fries, potato chips, and ice creams. Obese kings and queens are stuffing themselves with all manner of unhealthy things!
Not only does this add more fun and laughs, but Hanson also wants to convey a serious message, warning us about the dangers of eating junk food, as the Joker openly expresses: "Quit Junk Food. Make Life Good."

PEARL PLAYING CARDS
The Pearl Playing Cards consists of two versions, Pearl Sunrise and Pearl Sunset. Both of these decks feature radiant colours, exuberant designs, and a vibrant look, combining to capture something of exquisite natural beauty.
The Pearl Sunrise deck is named after a painting by the famous Impressionist painter Monet, entitled "Impression, Sunrise". The white-bordered back design of these cards is a hand painted creation from Estonian artist Toomas Pintson, and features a variety of colours with swirls that meld into one another to create a beautiful piece of art. The Ace of Spades is absolutely gorgeous, and contains a sample of the artwork found on the card backs.
But my favourite cards in this deck are the delightful court cards. These maintain the main design and pattern of traditional court cards, but feature the paint design splashed lavishly through the rest of the image. Metallic inks are used for the pips to complement the overall colour palette.
The Pearl Sunset deck is an altered version of the Sunrise deck, with a similar overall design, but adding in the oranges and reds that we typically see with a glorious sunset. Like its companion, it uses an Impressionist theme inspired by Monet, albeit with a slightly different colour scheme.

ODYSSEY PLAYING CARDS
There is something wonderful about looking up into the night sky, because stars, planets, and galaxies are awe-inspiring to gaze upon. The Odyssey Playing Cards were designed by Sergio Roca, who in 2014 came up with the idea of combining two of his passions: cosmology and playing cards. They are based on the Orion's nebula, one of the most beautiful nebulas we can see from the Earth. Sergio wanted to evoke a sense in which you can feel the universe in your hands, hence the name of his company: Feel the Universe.
The original 2016 release in this series had a simple white colour with a single line and border across the front of the deck, with a changing gradient of colours that captures a pink and dark purple galaxy. The success of the initial release spawned a number of sequel and similar decks, starting with Odyssey Boreal deck, which has an altered colour scheme, but retains the overall graphic design of the original, including a bold diagonal line, the Odyssey name and title, and the signature triangle shape on the back.
The faces are entirely custom, and each pip has been totally customised with a variety of simple shapes and designs to create a very geometric looking effect. The court cards also are totally customised and are composed of simple shapes as well, and a circle in the centre of each helps create a point of interest for spins and other flourishes.
Further entries in the series continued the overall style and look, with some variations, including the Odyssey Aether deck (2018) and Odyssey Nova deck (2019).

RED STRIPE PLAYING CARDS
The Cubist style of Pablo Picasso is evident in the Red Stripe Playing Cards, a deck which unsurprisingly has as its chief notable feature a red stripe. Designer Omar Renfro describes the influences behind this vibrant and colourful deck as being stained glass, cardistry, modern art, and architecture.
The starting point of Omar's concept was a desire to have a bold and eye-catching red stripe in the middle of the deck, which has a powerful impact on all card flourishes and moves, especially spreads and fans. The creative process behind the Red Stripe deck began by hand-drawing all the cards, which was scanned, traced and digitized, and finally turned into a deck.
The court cards have humorous Picasso-style faces, which were created by freestyling abstract lines, filling the resulting shapes with colour, and then styling them into faces based on the elements typical of classical court cards, such as the sword. The overall result is a radically unique interpretation that reflects a Cubist inspired style. The number cards all feature his hand-drawn artwork for the pips.
The Cubist style, continuous line work, and vibrant colours dominates all the cards, and it makes for a very energetic and "loud" deck that won't ever go unnoticed.

IMPRESSIONS
Chicken Nuggets: Hanson Chien really made his name with his Chicken Nugget Playing Cards, and it was the success of this became a pathway for the success of his publishing brand. These humorous decks will especially appeal to people who are familiar with the iconic status of the Jerry's Nugget Playing Cards, and who will appreciate how this clever parody replicates the original. It is a wonderful tribute to a classic and famous deck, with great attention paid to detail.
Other designs: But Hanson has since proven that his Chicken Nuggets project was not a flash in the pan and that he is not just a one-hit wonder. With the growing number of decks being produced under the Hanson Chien label, Hanson has proven that he can't only produce the equivalent of fast food, but also the equivalent of a three course dinner!
Quality: The quality look of playing cards from Hanson Chien is also backed up by quality printing and performance, and these Taiwan-produced decks also handle beautifully. HCPC prints their cards in Taiwan, which is also where the printing facilities used by other industry leaders like Expert/Legends Playing Cards are, and so in terms of card stock and finish their decks are very comparable in quality and handling.
Handling: They do use different stocks. The Artist stock of the Chicken Nugget decks handles much like the MasteDiamond finish from EPCC/LPCC, and is a relatively firm stock that is long-lasting and very snappy. The Classic stock of the Pearl decks and Red Stripe deck feels and handles more like a standard USPCC deck, and is almost identical to the Classic finish used by EPCC/LPCC. The Luxury stock of the later Odyssey decks and many of their other cardistry decks is much softer again, and will especially be appreciated by cardists who enjoy crushed stock. While there are variations in paper stock and finish, all of the decks have an air cushion style embossing that ensures consistent handling.
Other decks: The above decks are just a sample of some of the decks that have been manufactured by Hanson Chien Production Company. I have noticed in the last couple of years that an increasing number of projects seems to be using this playing card manufacturer as an alternative to LPCC and EPCC. As a result there is quite a variety of playing cards on the market today that has been HCPC-produced, and I recommend checking out some of their other offerings that are available.

How to Maximize Profit - IMPORTANT - READ THIS

For the majority of these offers you want to play blackjack following the chart found here
Any blackjack game will do, look for a normal version of the game at the site you are playing on and make sure it is a non live game as the hand sizes will be lower.
When playing blackjack there will often be more than one spot that you can bet on, allowing the player to bet more than one hand at a time, Its important to only bet on one spot at a time as it reduces the variance of the game and will ensure you get the maximum return possible from the game, stick to £1 hand sizes when playing and dont be tempted to bet larger amounts as you will be getting a nice amount of cashback from every offer
Through playing blackjack this way the player will get a return of around 98%, meaning for every £100 staked you will lose around £2. If you make a loss on a casino site after completing the required wagering amount, withdraw your remaining balance, don't chase loses as the cashback will make up for loses and give you a profit in most cases.
All offers are updated fairly regularly, make sure to check the terms for each offer as information in this post may become outdated. Also check for other offers every now and then as new casinos are added!

[Serious] Probably Been asked: How can I make my own homemade poker chips

I've spent literal days DDGing up this question, and I am finding NOTHING. I was interested in ordering some cryptocurrency-themed poker chips. Not because I play poker, but because I like poker chips. Long and short, they're expensive. You have to get them custom-made. Best price I've seen so far is $0.48 per chip for orders of 500 chips. Obviously, a beginner poker player can spend $40 on a 500 piece set from Wal Mart or whatever. The divide in price there is quite massive. So, I thought, how hard could it be to just make your own poker chips from [material] and paint/stamp/decorate them myself?
Well even getting the information on how someone could even begin to look into, say, starting a company around making custom poker chips just doesn't seem to exist. You either know how to do it or you don't. I don't. And I don't like at least knowing how not possible it is. Gimme some clay from Hobby Lobby, I'll figure out a way to make them even. But how do those ceramic chips look so perfectly painted? And how are they so perfectly round? Is there a way to do this at the enthusiast level? I just feel like there's no clear information path for me to travel down; web searches just give me all the websites to put in custom chip orders. I just want to know how a hobbyist could maybe begin doing this on the side for fun.

My story

So, I will preface this by saying that I don't go on Reddit much, but do read a lot of stories (mostly in youtube compilations). Also, I don't know anything about QAnon. But in describing... everything that happened with my stepdad, my fiancée told me I should post my story here. So that's what I will do. It's a long one.
So I have a lot of baggage. My parents (mom and stepdad; dad has been out of the picture for a long time now) were emotionally, mentally, and verbally abusive. Never physically, though. To this day, they gaslight and try to manipulate me, and I am sure this has contributed to my lost memories. I have trust and relationship issues now too.
It really started when my stepdad came into the picture. My father was angry, drunk, and did hard drugs. Refused to work or parent, just played Call of Duty and online poker. My mom was miserable, playing the buffer between us and him, worked the shit shift at a shit job to provide for us, and did her best to find time to be a parent to me and my 3 siblings around all that.
Then the divorce happened, and she was a single parent of 4 kids with an addict ex-husband who refused to (and still has not to this day) pay child support. Shortly after she meets my stepfather. He brings us all to his church (which he has since quit for being too liberal and money-hungry). It is all well and fine, for a while. He is really nice, mom is happy, we have a man taking up a fatherly role in our lives for the first time ever. Then things start feeling... off...
He starts making arbitrary rules and disciplining us with his fucked up mind games. I remember one time, to make me and my brother stop bickering, he threatened to make us stay in each others' bedrooms. Sleep in each others' beds. Not be allowed back to our own room. For a few days. Another time, he took my brother's door off the hinges and gave him zero privacy for backtalking him. Dishes HAD to be done by hand, no more using the fully functional dishwasher, for no reason other than he said so. We had to do it in a super specific way he showed us too. One time he sent me and my brother into our rooms for an hour to each come up with a written list on how we would punish ourselves if he ever caught us bickering again, and pray he approved it, because we didn't want to know what HE could come up with.
He had all of us pick out our 3 most favorite things we owned. Then told us that if we ever pissed him off too badly, he would throw away everything we owned besides our beds, clothes, our bible, and those 3 items we picked. He would steal small toys and trinkets we had from us so he could "surprise" us as adults with them unexpectedly. I have gotten a few long-lost beloved toys back already. I once got caught hanging out with a friend at her house one day. College classes let out super early and I wasn't keen on going home to my toxic house, so I hung out at my friend's until the usual time to go home. My cousin had spotted me leaving the college by chance and called my house to make sure I was meant to be out that way (it was a ways away from home, I was with someone he hadn't met, and he didn't know I was in college). When I got home, I was tasked with writing down every lie I had ever told, or else I would lose everything I owned besides my bed, bible, clothes, and 3 favorite belongings.
The stories go on and on, and I don't even remember a lot of them because I have apparently repressed a lot of memories.
We weren't allowed cell phones or videogames. Computer was for school work only and he would monitor all the stuff you did it administratively from his computer. If you were even one second late coming home, heaven help you. Not allowed to buy a car before the day I moved out. He would brag about planning on kicking my younger brother out on his 18th birthday. If you "messed up" and did anything wrong within a week of spending time with a friend, they were a "bad influence" and were never allowed to see them again outside of school. Unless the friend was useful to them, like one friend who gave me rides to and from college (I did a program where I took college classes while in high school).
He believed, and outright stated, that since he was a teenager once upon a time that he knew everything we thought. We made an innocent mistake, like forgot to check to see if any dishes needed to be washed before watching TV? No, we chose to do it intentionally as an act of rebellion just to piss him off. And we were liars if we claimed otherwise. Whenever anything bad happened and it involved us at all, we would get in trouble if we did not accept 100% of the responsibility and blame. Example: if there was an unexpected change in plans and it left us in a tight spot, it was our fault for not planning better. If we ran out of something we needed (for like cooking or school) it was our fault for not letting mom know before her last trip to the store.
He would use his religion as an excuse to rule over the whole family, including my mom, with an iron fist. What he says, goes. I remember one time he started screaming at me for wearing the same shirt to church every week (we were forced to go) and I said it was because it was the only nice dress-shirt-type of shirt I had. Mom defended me and said I didn't have any other "nice" shirts to wear. He called her a bad wife for arguing with him. To him, the man of the house was the leader. The wife and children are meant to be obedient, and obey everything he says without question. In turn, it is man's duty to lead and provide for the family. He, and my mom, believe that mental illness (such as ADHD, ADD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, etc...) are all made up by people who want attention and the only "real" mental disorders are the super bad ones like schizophrenia. Super convenient for a narcissist, right?
My stepdad is not only a narcissist, but also one of those crazy conspiracy theorists. Anti-vaxxer, flat-Earther, the whole 9 yards. We've never been to space or the moon. "They" are spraying chemtrails in the sky all day every day from airplanes. "They" (meaning "the bad guys" which may mean some or all of the following: the USA government, the satan-worshipping illuminati, the sheeple, the World government, the evil ultra-rich bazillionares who sold their souls for their success and run the world... you get the picture). The Catholic church is actually secretly the illuminati and the Pope is their leader. The Coronavirus is just a massive lie made up by Them so they could hard-reset the world economy and train us to follow orders and so They can see how far They can push us before we even notice or take action. The vaccine is evil and poison and may or may not contain a microchip. The "Mark of the beast" in the bible will be a government-issued microchip used to track you and assign you a social score and all that shit. They want to take out guns so we have no way of defending ourselves against Them when They send the military out. All of these conspiracies he gets from a mix of websites. I won't name any, but I know of a few. Because growing up, we were forced to "research" and read "news articles" off these websites daily. He flip-flops between singing Trump's praises and berating him as just another corrupt government official who lied his way into office with false promises to the "woke" people. But I guarantee you that he would applaud the insurrection that happened on the news today.
He started pushing all of his views onto my mom and siblings. With... mixed reception. All of us shrug off some of the really crazy ones, like how all celebrities make deals with demons for their fame. But my mom and 2 of my siblings have started believing a lot of what he says. Now they are also flat-Earther anti-vaxxers who point at clouds and cry "chemtrails!" I just try to avoid politics and any of these crazy theories whenever I spend time with my family. I don't do a lot of talking with them at all, actually. I am either lying and deflecting to keep them from prying too deeply into my life, or sitting quietly while my stepdad goes on a rant.
My stepdad can be really creepy. When I still lived there, I would occasionally sit on his knee (a habit I picked up as a kid, and I would still do it to be "affectionate" and fly under his radar, he loved and encouraged it), but when I got older he would start to rub my thighs, my back really close to my ass, and my sides close to my chest. Made me super uncomfortable so I quit doing that. Never went any beyond that, and I am not sure it was even intentional. I ask my sister (who still lives with him and my mom) every time I see her if he has ever done anything inappropriate or made her uncomfortable, and she says he hasn't. Also he has this weird obsession with my, my sister's, and my mom's feet? Mainly mine though, since they are the softest. That also weirds me out.
They have put me through Hell and back. This all kept up until I moved out at 19, and they tried every tactic under the sun to get me to move back. Mainly my stepdad was the problem, but my mom isn't innocent either. She let this happen. She went along with it. And she became part of the problem when she started supporting the abuse from my stepdad, and believing in his crazy conspiracy theories. Plus, she was homophobic and racist to begin with. Throw in a hefty dose of believing in and pressuring me and my sister into gender stereotyped roles (expects us to be homemaker housewife baby machines) and she adds her own problems into the mix. Also, she straight up ignored me and accused me of lying and saying hateful things out of anger the one time I told her that I hated my stepdad and what he put me through. I told her all this after the incident I described above, where I went to a friend's house instead of home when college let out early. She gaslights and manipulates me too. Mainly to feel small, scared, and like I need to run to them for advice and help. She wants me back under her thumb. She wants me to move away from my current house, because I am living with a roomate she hates (a "bad influence" friend and one whose house she is not welcome at).
Despite all of that, I don't cut contact with my family. I don't even argue with them. I spot manipulation when I can and acknowledge it internally. I don't call them out on it. I don't challenge or argue about politics, or these conspiracy theories, or their racism or homophobia. I don't rock the boat. Because at the end of the day, I still love my mom and siblings. Despite all their flaws. I would be devastated if they were no longer in my life. But it chips away at me, every minute I spend with them. Every homophobic comment I have to just swallow, because I know I could never tell them I am a lesbian and am engaged to a woman. It kills me to have to hide her away, like a dirty secret, and I know it hurts her too. But I don't know what to do from here. I feel awful not challenging my family, but I feel it is a lost cause. I could never change their minds, only lose them from my life. I know it is inevitable anyways, but I still don't cut my family out. Partly because the fallout would be NUCLEAR, and partly because I want to put it off as long as possible so I still have them in my life.
Anyways, I doubt anyone will see this. But it feels good to get this off my chest a bit. Thanks to anyone who did take the time to read this.

[RF] The Eleven Year Itch

The eleven year itch.
TV has a different quality when you’re sick. It’s not as comforting as it usually is. It drags, hurts her with every commercial.
She watches Dr Phil, then Maury, then Entertainment Tonight. She flicks through channels, trying to find something to distract her.
TV’s big promise is that it can be your friend, you can laugh with it, cry with it. She doesn’t own Netflix or Hulu. She is old fashioned in that way, she doesn’t have the internet either. She uses it at work, but doesn’t necessarily trust it.
With the internet there’s no filtering process, everything and anything could be thrown at you. Pornography, beheading videos, gambiling websites, viruses. All this scares her, the randomness of it all.
She remembers clearly her niece telling her a story of a time when she had been playing a game online and a scary face had flown out at her. This scary face had flashed with no warning and just filled the screen. Kelly knows that if that ever happened to her she would die inside, she would scream and scream until she ran out of life.
If there is going to be a scary face on TV, there will be a warning. A stern voice will tell you that “Parental guidance is recommended” or that this show “ Is for mature audiences”.
With TV, although there is no control, the programming has been designed by someone. A programmer has considered what will play. She is in the most marketed to age group 18 to 35. With the internet you have no control, and no one has planned it, the internet just keeps going whether you want it to or not.
When she gets out the vodka bottle she has to dust it off. She rubs it clean with a dish rag, grey specs fall off it to pile into the sink. She pours a small glass, then drinks it straight. The moment is over quick, no graduality to it.
She feels like a bridge, a big steel bridge with exactly one beam missing, every day cars drive over her, these cars are the general pressure of life.
All the tiny but monumental tribulations and humiliations of being a human. These include but are not limited to periods, traffic, headaches, stomach troubles ( Being too full and too empty, the twin pains), acne breakouts, clothes making her look fat, awkward silences, random eye contact, laughing too loud at someone’s joke and much, much more.
All these annoying little niggles, that everyone deals with are like cars driving over her. And as the TV commercials got too boring, the bridge collapsed.
With one vodka comes two, then three, then the whole bottle, then the sponsor breaking the door down after seeing you through your window, then the ambulance ride, then the stomach pump.
When she wakes up in the uncomfortable bed it feels like someone has shoved a fire poker down her throat, she coughs and realises that she’s drained and dehydrated.
She can hear her brother near her, he’s on the phone.
“ The dumb cunt’s only gone and fucking killed herself.” he says into the phone.
“ What?”
“ No she’s not actually dead it’s an expression, she’s alive but she’s still out, Soph I thought we were past this.”
She should be offended by this, her own brother calling her that, but it isn’t the first time and in a way he is right, it’s all her fault, no one else's.
Technically she could blame her neighbour, for giving her the bottle which did her in, she could blame the cold that made her stay home from work, or even blame the television programmer for putting such boring ads.
But the neighbour didn’t know better, she had given it to her as a moving in present and she hadn’t thrown it or poured it down the sink.
She probably could have gone to work, sure her throat was sore and her nose was blocked but what was that compared to this.
Maybe if she had just adapted, gotten a netflix account, then she wouldn’t have been bored by those ads, those horrible monotonous ads.
As they are driving back from the hospital her brother tells her so many cliched things that she’s dangerously close to rolling her eyes or sighing.
She fights the urge though, cause that would make him explode, he’d call her a cunt, a drunk, a waste of space, time and energy, a waste of life and talent, and he’d be right.
These things he would say wouldn’t hurt her, she had accepted those long ago. She knew that he would feel bad though, he probably had never called another woman a cunt, she never saw him so full of rage. The reason she doesn’t sigh or roll her eyes, but only nods and looks sorrowful is because of him.
If he explodes, he will feel terrible, there will be the horribly awkward silence on the drive home then the few days of respite, before he calls her. He will cry on the telephone, tell her sorry, how sorry he is for hurting her and calling her names.
And even though she knows this is terrible, it’s non the less true that when she gets these phone calls she is bothered and annoyed.
She feels that he shouldn’t get to play both sides, call her a cunt then comfort her. She feels annoyed that he feels so obliged to her, she doesn’t want to let him down, but would rather do that then let him down, then let him apologize to her for it.
Kelly has gotten adept at sensing what face people are pulling on the phone. She can tell from people’s tone, the subtle shifts and lulls in their voices, the words emphasized, and the pauses.
When she first got out of rehab all the phone calls were outgoing, she would be reaching out to people to talk, to ‘ catch up’ as her mother used to say.
When ever the phone connected and she spoke there would be a pause, as if who she was calling had received a call from a ghost.
Then they give a hesitant hello, that rises up in tone at the end which tells you that it’s actually a question. Kelly knew her that at this point the person would be rolling their eyes, unsure how to feel.
And when you answer back hello the second hello is triumphant and soaring. A hello with an exclamation mark as if to compensate for the question. Their face would remain the same though,
The chat is so overbearingly happy that it annoys you, you almost want them to burst into tears and feel sorry for you, almost.
This overhappy response is precisely the second worse response someone could have to someone coming out of addiction.
But the feeling sorry for you is the worst, the one time this has happened to her confirmed it for her.
It had been Naomi, a friend from her public relations degree, bubbly Naomi, always too friendly, like an overeager dog that drools in your lap from excitement.
Naomi hadn’t burst into tears, she had felt sorry for her though.
“ Oh you poor petal.” She said.
At this point Kelly hung up the phone. There’s a thirty second delay and then the phone rings again, and it’s her, Naomi, the overeager dog wants to call back to drool more.
She grabs the phone, ripping it straight from the wall, and she smashes it against the wall, smashes it until chips of black plastic fly off.
She had slumped to the ground, black phone in hand.
As her brother drives her home, she remembers all of this, all the painful phone calls after rehab.
When they get inside Sophie is waiting for them. She’s a big woman, not fat, but she certainly takes up space, occupies a room.
When her brother first got together with her, she had wondered why. But one night when they had locked gazes she understood.
She had warm brown eyes, like a cow’s. Those eyes were always smiling, they would take you in and make you feel wanted.
When ever she looked into her sister in laws eyes she feels better, no matter how dire the situation. She feels loved. She just imagines what it’s like for her brother, getting to see those eyes all day and wake up next to them. This is why her brother loves this woman, he may have a hundred other reasons but she knows this is the true reason.
Sophie is dressed up, in a lovely brown dress which suits her figure well. She has a job interview. It reminds Kelly f the time when she vowed she would never drink again.
She was 21 years old, she and three colleagues Jane, Ruby and Alex had been out celebrating. They had just finished a campaign for breast cancer, and it was received well . They are all dressed in cocktail dresses, Kelly in a peach one.
They had just been profiled for a major magazine, under the headline ‘ The New Woman Of PR’. The four of them had stood looking fiercely into the camera, sophisticated and intelligent.
They were at an upscale cocktail bar. The bar had ridiculously sexual names for cocktails. Kelly remembers blushing slightly at the titles, but the other girls had ordered them confidently.
She was the least confident in the group… until she got some alcohol into her.
By the time she had had four glasses of something called a ‘Cocksucking cover girl’. A gaudy pink drink with a high alcohol content, she’s on a roll.
She would order more but the girls are hinting they want to leave, and she figures that she can drink at home anyway. As they leave the fancy bar, down a set of concrete steps, Kelly is in the front, rushing ahead laughing.
Her white heels crack on the last step and she trips, she lands roughly on her left hand. The pain blooming there is so intense she pukes. She sprays pink all over her peach cocktail dress. She rolls onto her back, and looks up at her friends.
As she realises that she has actually hurt herself ( it will later be diagnosed as a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist), she feels it. A stream of urine flows down her leg.
She is laying on the ground, in her own vomit, and now piss is streaming down her leg. She looks down between her legs then back up at her friends.
She sees the three of them there and she knows that she never wants to drink again, actually that’s not true. She knows that she never wants to be drunk again. Never wants another hangover or drunken stumble, never wants to be bent on her knees over a toilet and firing chunks into the bowl.
Alex, who is wearing bright neon yellow, laughs, and she points, actually points like a bully in a cartoon, she grabs her stomach. She's laughing so hard.
Ruby, adorned in a cocktail dress the same colour as a ‘ Cock sucking covergirl’ looks down at her and smirks. Ruby has always hated her, Kelly knew it and this proves it.
Jane is the worst. Jane is the only one who she thinks of as an actual friend, the only one that she will stay in contact with. Jane looks at her with a mix of pity and disgust.
It was after that that she went to rehab, and it was hard as hell, she never tries to tell people how hard it was, because it will sound cliche and self pitying but it was.
It was physically, psychologically and spiritually draining, she felt like she was broken down and built up again, several times. At times she thought of suicide, just to end the process. If she were dead she wouldn’t have to worry.
Rehab was terrible, but once it was done, about a year after, she felt content. Sure there was the awkwardness of phone calls, and the pitying looks she would get from people, but it was a piece of cake compared to the hell of rehab.
But as the years of rehab went by it faded. They often say that long term alcoholics forget how bad it was. She didn’t forget, she couldn’t. How do you forget the worst thing in your life?
So this is why as she is fearful when she is sitting on the couch with her brother and his lovely, cow-eyed wife.
In three seconds eleven years of hard work went down the toilet. As she was drinking the vodka down she didn’t once think of all the heartache it would cause.
This is why she feels a deep despair. Because even if she survives 11 years what’s to say that it won’t all happen again, in three seconds of blind craziness she will drink and be back at the beginning of the horrible cycle.
What if she makes it to twenty years? Twenty one years?
It’s the same really.
She is 99 percent sure she will never relapse, but then again before the boring TV ad and vodka fiasco she had been 99 percent sure. She will always be 99 percent sure.
You are always an addict, no one used to be an addict.
For the rest of her life the cars will keep coming, she will need to build the bridge and hope all the beams are there, but you never know and you never will.

3DS and Wii U games not yet available on Nintendo Switch - Complete Database (in progress)

This is an attempt at creating a complete database of all 3DS and Wii U games that didn't make the cut to the Switch (from Nintendo masterpieces to shovelware).
As it stands, the "raw data", consisting of just the list of the last-gen non-Switch games, is already gathered. This is, however, still a working progress as much more can be done, for example classify the games in categories such as "Third Party", "Indie Gem", "Shovelware", among others. Other information such as each game's developer would also enrich this list.
The idea behind this list is manly software preservation, because someday the other consoles' eShops will close and similarly to the Wii Shop channel some games may be lost, and with this database we know which of the bunch are not "safe" on Switch. But this is also a matter of consistency across Nintendo platforms, hence the inclusion of games with physical version. The Switch is such an amazing and successful console that, in my opinion (and of many here in this sub), it would be amazing if virtually every game was ported to it (or at least every Nintendo related one) .
There is some subjectivity in this selection of games, because we didn't include games that already have a improved version on the Switch (games that include the vast majority of the base game content), so for example Smash 4 is not here, because almost everything it had to offer is replicated in Ultimate. In the other hand, Mario Kart 7 is in fact listed, because very few of it's tracks are represented in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
The criteria used are as follows:
- Every original 3DS game not on Switch is featured
- If a game is in both 3DS and Wii U but not in Switch, it appears listed as 3DS game (because the 3DS outlived the Wii U and probably so will it's eShop)
- Every original Wii U game not on 3DS and not on Switch is featured
- This searched is based on the PAL games of the consoles and in Nintendo's official website
- If a game has a port/enhanced version/remake announced for the Nintendo Switch (e.g. Super Mario 3D World) it is off the list.
--

The idea of this post is creating this database together as a fun little fan project, seeing as it is incomplete and can have a much better organization and presentation that it has as of this moment.

Possible improvements/updates:
- Adding the other regions (NA and Japan)
- Tag the games as "Indie Gem", "Shovelware"...
- Associate to each game a possible reason for why the port hasn't happened yet (e.g. extinct developer, technical difficulties, irrelevance, etc...)
- Group the numbers in graphs or other more pleasant presentation
- Create dream ports to Switch (a favorite of this sub :) ) based on the games yet to port (not only of a simple game like Xenoblade Chronicles X for Switch but for example: Etrian Odyssey Collection, based on the fact that there are a bunch of games from that series "stuck" on the 3DS)

Well here it goes:

Legend:
N = Made/Published by Nintendo
TP = Third Party with physical version
IG = Indie Gem (subjective)
